Moosend stands out from our Mailchimp alternatives because their entry-level membership is “free forever.” At least, as long as your contact list stays below 1,000 entries. Even if you exceed this, though, payment plans start at just $10 per month. They also have a “pay as you go” option to bump up your limits when you need it. It’s certainly a contender.

AWeber

The oldest of our Mailchimp alternatives is AWeber—they’ve been around since 1998! Despite being the senior citizen on our list, this platform has a range of features. Most of these features are typical for anyone looking to start doing serious email marketing. Additionally, they have a mobile app that allows you complete access to its programming even on the go. (It’s pretty savvy for an older platform.)

AWeber has a 30-day free trial with full access to all of its features, including their digital app—but don’t be fooled: It’s still not the cheapest on our list of Mailchimp alternatives. After your first trial run, they charge strictly by the subscriber count. For the first 500 contacts, the cost is $19 per month. After that, you’ll need to upgrade your plan if you want to keep sending messages…even if you don’t send to every customer on your list.

Mailjet

This company is the second youngest in our list of Mailchimp alternatives. They started in 2010—one year before newcomer Moosend. It stands out from the crowd with its great SMS feature. This allows you to send text messaging to your customer list with absolute ease. It has a comparable free plan to Moosend (minus the A/B testing). However, on the downside, everything you send has Mailjet branding on it.

Their major difference for Mailjet in our Mailchimp alternatives comes in the way you pay for service. Once you start a payment plan, it costs about $9 per month. You get up to 200 sends per day and 6,000 sends per month—whatever your contact list looks like. Plus, with a “pay as you grow” deal, you can make adjustments incrementally as your business expands.
